iphone 5

The new iPhone from Apple, what do you think of it?

iPhone 5 with a new design and higher specs, still with the same width but taller a bit. What’s different from the old generation and this one? Not much really processor, designer, memory, camera and other parts of the iPhone. Keeping this short and simple to read.

Review

Design
Very sleek and stylish. I like the back cover of the iPhone 5, I went for the black as I’m not keen with white colour phones. (They get dirty easily)

Size and Weight
Fits perfectly in my hand. More lighter than the previous iPhones.

Specs
I do notice the speed and the quickness of multitasking. Heard articles that this beast contain triple core graphics which is great for our gamers out there. I was hoping to see Quad Core built-in, maybe the next generation will have it. The memory is still reasonable with 1 gig, would love to see 2 gig next year.

Price
Starting from £529 for 16GB, expensive than before. I weren’t expected to see this phone would cost at least £529 on the market. It is best to get hold of these iPhone 5 on contract with EE, O2, 3, Vodafone etc.

OS Features
iOS6 has over 200 new features available on many iDevices. One thing I like about the update is the AppStore, you do not need to go back to the home screen for each time you download/update an app. Siri has been updated to understand in many languages which include Chinese, Japanese, Spanish etc.

Apple has got rid of Google Maps so they have develop a map app for their iDevices. To be honest I still prefer the Google Maps, Apple map is very outdated. (Need to get their heads down and work hard)

Issues
So far I have problems in connecting my iPhone to my wifi network, it’s either connected for 30 minutes or disconnection every 10 minutes. (Depend on my luck really). Apple is currently fixing this issue.

Recommendation
I do recommend this iPhone 5 if you haven’t got one now, best phone in the world. You cannot beat Apple products for sure. iPhone 5 is simple, easy and helpful. You won’t be disappointed after buying this iPhone 5. 10/10

Finally, Apple has announced the next generation of the iPhone and guess what? It is not the iPhone 5, it’s an iPhone 4S, exactly same design on the outside but different for the inside. They have managed to use the same processor as the iPad 2, upgraded the camera and added extra few bits and bobs to the phone.

I am very disappointed with Apple, I was expecting an iPhone 5 this year as my contract is up for a renewal in January. Planned to have a nice fresh iPhone, but since it’s a similar design and upgraded performance I wouldn’t bother upgrading it or even buy it. The only thing that attract me is the iOS5, which consists over 200 features and I love that Siri feature. I would love to talk to my iPhone and ask random questions :D

So is it worth to buy the iPhone 4S?
Apparently the iPhone 4S will cost you at least £499 for 16GB. Alternative you can purchase the iPhone 4 from £429. If you really want a high performance dual core processor phone, then go with iPhone 4S. I would personally go with iPhone 4.

Shall I wait for the next generation?
It is up to you. I currently have an iPhone 4 and I’m happy with my iPhone. iOS5 surely will go smoothly without any issues, regardless if I had that iPhone 4S. But if you have the iPhone 4, it is worth a wait for the iPhone 5 to be release next year.

Remember iPhone 4S is very similar to the iPhone 4, just the processor, camera, battery and wireless are different.

  • A5 Chips
  • QWERTY slide-up keyboard
  • Smaller and Greener
  • 4 Inch Display Screen

Is this a rumor? I wouldn’t mind to see an A5 chip on iPhone 5, definitely not a slide-up keyboard. Making the iPhone 5 a lot heavier.

So you get the point, iPhone 5 may or may not have dual cores. But why dual cores especially for the next generation iPhone. iPhone 4 is fast enough to support games and software, I understand having a greater processor can support high end games. It’s a good idea for Apple to focus more on iPad rather than iPhone. I wouldn’t be too surprise if the “iPhone 6″ have quad cores at that time. Try and image your phone running on 8 processors, that will be insane. Good for iPad :P not for iPhone.

I really want to see a SD card slot or something can catch my attention. If the next generation iPhone is the same as before, I’m not going to bother to get one. It depends if I have the cash at that time, I’m surely will buy one for my wifey.

I have been thinking in my head, what’s the next iPhone going to have? Would it be even more slimmer? Faster processor? Treble the memory? Longer lasting battery life? Slimmer would be ideal and not so wide it would be great, our pockets aren’t that big. Although business users tend to use these smartphones as they keep theirs in their suitcases, bags, or in larger pocket areas etc.

Would they call it as iPhone 5, the 5th generation of the iPhone. Or maybe call it as iPhone 4GS? It’s still very early to discuss about it, as the iPhone 4 has just released so I think we got to wait around January 2011 for the news. How about the design? Do you think it will look better than the iPhone 4? There are many fake photos around the net, so don’t trust them they are not real.

Never thought any features that they’ll be adding on the iPhone, need to think about it first then I will write another post next month or so. I hope they can add flash, but by the looks of Steve Jobs; I highly doubt the Flash will be on the iDevices.
