What do I think about Blackberry Z10?
In comparing with Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5 I still think the Z10 needs more work to be done on its device. The Z10 looks so much alike as the iPhone 5 and people may mistaken it as a next gen iPhone. The casing is very sleek it feels very comfortable in your hand, there’s no problem reaching one end to another. Another thing I like is the back case it does not leave any finger prints although it attracts dust and dirt. You need time to clean the back casing however getting a case cover would do the trick. On the front and back case has a BlackBerry logo. Let’s get on with it!

Very easy to snap a photo without any problem. I have taken a few snaps and all shots are the same, most are not as clear as I thought to be.

BlackBerry World
It’s good to see BBW is doing well, still need improvement. BBW need to split up the paid and free apps. One thing I noticed you can share the app via BBM, Facebook, Twitter etc. Hopefully to see more apps in the upcoming months.

Homescreen
The screen consists 4 columns and 4 rows with a total of 16 apps. You can add folders by selecting an app and overlap with another.

Lockscreen
Very neat way to unlock Z10 there is no button on the front, just swipe up from the bottom to unlock.

Touchscreen Sensitivity
Very smooth indeed. So far I have not experienced any lag or slow response in touch sensitivity.

Notification (Top Bar)
Good to see toggles within the notification bar I love the fact they have the Settings app there.

Notification (Side Bar)
Swipe from the left until you see all the notifications from BBM, Text Messages, Facebook, Twitter, Calls. Very handy feature for mobile users.

Settings
A nicely layout of each setting, more user friendly than the Android version.

Right – iPhone 5

Grabbed 2 of these in Challenger, Singapore. Under S$50 each what a bargain. Will be testing these little devices tomorrow morning.

D-Link DCS-930L

Finally I have an iMac on my desk, I always wanted an iMac ever since I was 16. Now I can watch movies on my 21.5inch screen :-P

Design
Nice curve design around the edges, although I dislike the way they installed the speaker which is at the rear of the tablet. Would prefer them on the edge.

Weight
Incredibly bulky. I don’t think anyone would wish to carry this beast outside, it’s like carrying 2 cans of soda.

Specs
The spec of this tablet pc is top notch, built with nVidia Tegra 2 giving a massive dual-core processor 1.5GHz turbo. Plus a gig of memory and a big hard drive storage for storing big media files and apps. Wifi and 3G available, you would need to buy an additional 3G stick.

Operating System
On default this tablet runs on Android 4.0 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ (ICS).

Touch Sensitiveness
The sensitiveness is poor on this machine. Every time I type a letter, more than 3-4 letters appear in the box. It’s either their hardware glitch or the OS itself. As I have tested out other tablets (Nexus7, iPad, Sony S), this tablet is the first that I have experienced with poor touch sensitiveness.

Overall the Archos 101 G9 is a good tablet pc to play with, I enjoy watching my favourite movies and play games. Worth a buy if you don’t mind carrying this, and you’re a tech lover. 8/10

Review
If you are a Chinese drama lover, then you gotta get one of these. TVPad is the best streaming media player on the market, stream live through their 12-channel listing. Plus with apps installed onto the device you can watch over 100,000+ movies on demand. 10/10 for TVPad, you buy now on eBay from authorized resellers from as low as £130.

Internet Connection
Supplier said any connection above 2Mb will work. Trust me 2Mb is not enough I think at least 4Mb is the best option. As my home is currently on 2.6Mb I can view the livestream from TVB, movies are watchable if you are willing to wait.

Video Quality
Livestream – Some channels are in standard and high definition. Regardless on the speed you have on your line, this does not really affect the video quality. If you have a HDTV use a HDMI cable rather than a RGB.
Movies – Even movies are listed as BluRay quality, some quality varies.

Overall the video quality is top notch, better than watching movies and dramas online.

Content
You can’t really complain about the channel listing, there are 12 live channels (Chinese&Asian) and there are other apps which you see on the home page. Each app has their own programmes and shows, you can check out more information here. Mixture of English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hong Kong movies, some may subtitles. If you know how to read Chinese it shouldn’t be a problem as the Movies app is in Chinese, and people who cannot read such as myself will need to start asking family and friends.

USB and SD Slot
Whilst the TVPad has limited storage there is a built-in SD slot for you to install more apps or store your favourite media files. Alternatively there is a USB port where you can connect a portable hard drive, you can watch any media files on the TVPad without any problems.

Setting It Up
The TVPad installation was so easy even an inexperienced person can install it.

  1. Simply connect your video cable from TVPad into your TV. (I had to connect mine via AV Receiver)
  2. Insert the microSD card into the SD slot
  3. Plug into the power adaper
  4. Wait until it appears on your TV screen, it should take around 30-60 seconds to load (happens all the time, no need to panic)
  5. You should see a homepage with 3 navigation icons on the left and a few apps installed on the main page.
  6. To install more apps, go into App Manager and install the app you want. If there is no English description for the app you can look in here.

Brought this tablet PC in Singapore 6 months ago, it was on offer for $599 I think. It’s a great tablet to play, browse and watch.
